GEORGES TRUBERT

Monograph on a fascinating French illuminator

The present book is the result of the PhD thesis defended in November 2022 (University of Geneva). It focuses on Georges Trubert, illuminator to King René d’Anjou and King René II de Lorraine. The artist, born in Troyes (France), comes from a family of artists and traveled to numerous cities around France during the second half of the 15th century (Paris, Anjou, Provence, Lorraine). Georges Trubert left us some magnificent illuminated manuscripts that are among the finest, such as the impressive Diurnal and Breviary made in 1492-1493 for René II de Lorraine and now preserved in public libraries in Paris. The monograph also includes the first catalogue raisonné of Georges Trubert’s œuvre.
